You all would have thought that Blackberry is down from a long time now, but with the launch of Blackberry PRIV earlier this year it sort of made a comeback. And it continues to improve in hardware. So here we are to guide you on the two latest models launched by Blackberry DTEK 60 and DTEK 50. Let us take a sneak peek into what BB has in store for us.

Design

Unlike Blackberry PRIV, both the phones are all touch devices. Blackberry Priv, on the other hand, has a sliding keyboard underneath. You can know more about BB Priv here. The DTEK 60 is a 153.9 mm high, 75.4 mm wide and 7 mm thin phone weighing 165 grams. Whereas the DTEK 50 is 147 mm high, 72.5 mm wide and 7.4 mm thin weighing 135 grams. These are Blackberry’s thinnest phones ever made. The main difference between the designs of the two phones is that the DTEK 50 uses textured plastic material rather than glass which adds grip to the phone, but the DTEK 60 has a premium glass finish which makes its surface a bit slippery. Also, the DTEK 60 has a fingerprint sensor right below the camera at the back. What they both have in common is that they would look stunning in your hand!

Display

The DTEK 60 has got a large 5.5 inch AMOLED display boasting Quad-HD resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. It offers a pixel density of 534 ppi (pixels per inch). On the other hand the DTEK 50 has a 5.2 inch scratch resistant full HD display with a resolution of 1920×1080 and pixel density of 424 ppi. Both the models come with scratch resistant glass and oleophobic coating to protect against fingerprint smudges. The display delivers richer colors and deeper black levels with less power consumption. The DTEK 60 has slightly curved edges but the DTEK 50 does not.

Storage and OS

Both the phones are powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. The software is such that you get the features of the old Blackberry’s operating system along with Android (It is ‘two’ much fun!).The DTEK 60 comes with a 4GB RAM and 32 GB internal space which can be extended up to 2 TB of external storage through micro SD cards. On the other hand the DTEK 50 comes with a 3 GB RAM and 16 GB internal space that too can is expandable up to 2 TB. So you don’t have to tackle with storage issues!

Performance and Battery

The DTEK 60 is powered by Snapdragon 820 processor (dual core 2.15 GHz Kryo and dual-core 1.6 GHz Kryo) paired with a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery. The phone supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology. The DTEK 50 is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor with Adreno 405 GPU (quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53). It is embedded with a 2,610 mAh non-removable battery supporting Quick Charge 2.0 technology. No more of all night charging!

Camera

Blackberry has done quite well when it comes to the camera of DTEK 60 which is the highlight of the device. It has a 21 megapixels rear PDAF camera so you get DSLR like pictures. With f/2.0 aperture, the phone offers more focused pictures. Front camera of 8 megapixels is just fine. But the dual tone LED flash gives you near perfect images even in dark. The DTEK 50 has a 13 megapixels auto-focus rear camera with PDAF and fast focus lock as well as 8 megapixels front camera with flash. Which is obviously not as good as the DTEK 60, but justifies with its price. Happy clicking!
